Here is one article I wanted to publish on my blog since last few days.
As My organizations Corporate Social responsibility committee member I had wrote this for CSR special internal news letter. I hope, you will like this:

While thinking about leaders and movements, I always wondered since my childhood that why those people who made a great impression on me from history lessons, failed to make a mark on the people of their time compared to others. I used to compare Netaji with Gandhi (Original ie: MK); L.B. Shastriji with Nehru etc. I was also confused on why someone with so great thoughts, stature and actions couldn't catch as many followers as some others.
It took me years to find out the reasons on why it is so. It occurred to me only when, I conducted a study on Socio-Psychology in various demographies and locations in Maharashtra. One, of the interesting facts was how convenience of the individuals participating in a social activity plays the greatest role in the concerned movement.
It was highlighted again and again throughout the annals of the human history. But, as it goes with the saying "If it is so big, or so simple, it can't be true!" That's why we might have overlooked it or couldn't see it.
A few leaders used this fact knowingly or unknowingly to gather support from participants / followers through simple actions. In modern days this could be signing an on-line petition, clicking for a "like", scraps, sending viral mails etc.
Okay... I can read through this piece of paper through your mind and understand the question, "Where is this going? [& Are we there yet? ;)]" As a social animal we genetically have the sense to follow conventions, rules and etiquette. So, we have the sense of responsibility. At the same time, we can not be angels or daemons all of the time. We keep on delving through states, which makes us human.
As the life styles changed and we got kept pressing with new found specializations and frustrations, it became more and more hard for us to do any remarkable act for own society / community.
But our social instinct forced us to be a "Law abiding Citizen" and we hardly break any rules, we don't jump off the signals, we don't get into fights for no reasons etc. Thats the way we express our "social need" to help society.
"Where is this going? (& Are we there yet?)"
And here enters the Calsoft's Social Responsibility activities.
Thats where I got the chance to do a simple act and expect bigger and better changes. I was able to quickly pick up a few books and donate. Voilà, at least a few students will get a 'chance' to get a glimpse of information / knowledge.
I may do a simple act of car pooling. Everyone knows that it helps us in so many ways; but it won't get any 'bigger and better' unless we all do!
Calling calsoftians to get into simple acts of helping each other. There will be many more calls for various activities. And we acknowledge that the response will be overwhelming as it always was...

On this occasion my organizations celebration's forum saw a good traffic.

Hi,
There is a Valentine's day, a mother's, a father's, engineer's or even men's; now a system admin's day!
We never give a damn or a thought to our freedom after independance day.
Do we give a thought to other days? And, what change does it bring in our lives? Going further, what are we going to do about it?
Its simple guys, lets just celebrate "Today" as there is no tomorrow. As we already know, its our attitude towards "the day" which makes or breaks it.
Many times we get irritated, loose our temper / mind, even though we are a mother, engineer or a lover. What sense does it make? The person is having a bad day or we are giving him / her one!
Its highly likely that if someone like you is involved in many more activities( which are alwyas on high priorities / inter-dependant) that the guy / girl is going to be swinging in moods for the highs and the lows.
Just, relax for the moment and say, "Bring it on!"
Next time when we see a bus conductor just give him a smile and genuine compliment for the job he is doing. You making his day, will "Pay it forward!".
Lets, spread the smiles: the best social lubricant.

]]>Promote an Indian Inventor for Nobel Prize

As you know already, no Indian has ever won a Nobel prize. Yeah, I know the exceptions: a) Person of Indian origin (All who have at least one great great great grandfather from India / almost the Indian subcontinent) b) Person who was in the British era (Technically a British / Commonwealth citizen)
Before, I cover the full story, would like to share the backdrop when I came to know about this. I was on a weekend and traveling through countryside albeit on national highway. The thing at that time on my mind was the anti-material stabilized for few hundred seconds in a lab and I was thinking where do we stand as an Indian on this front.
Then, I came to know about a person from rural India who has done an equally unparalleled advancements in the field of chemistry.
So, without further ado: I saw a huge gas cargo truck on the way with very flammeous picture on it saying in larger and bolder fonts "Highly inflammable". The great innoventor had accidentally made a never before discovery in the fields of chemistry. He had marked "CO2" as highly inflammable gas!
First, there was the Color and then there was an invention... Lets, just promote him, the way we have promoted other/s things so will score at least one guaranteed Nobel.

A few facts:

Yet another parody: I've seen people who opt for e-Bills [apparently to save trees] and have them printed! ;) Also, seen E-Books getting printed!!
Whatever the reason, please do the following while sending prints to corporate printers:
1) Don't print personal documents 2) If you need to print a lot of pages, print it back to back. 3) Avoid printing E-Books (If you still need to do it, read item 2) 4) If you've sent prints, don't forget to collect. Your "Printed" e-bills are "useless" for others.

After receiving latest company news letter devoted to Tax, as a Linguistic Graduate I followed the etymology of the word tax.
reference.com says: Origin: 1250–1300; (v.) Middle English taxen < Medieval Latin taxāre to tax, appraise, Latin: to appraise, handle, frequentative of tangere to touch; (noun) Middle English, derivative of the v.
etymonline says: late 13c., from O.Fr. taxer "impose a tax" (13c.), from L. taxare "evaluate, estimate, assess, handle," also "censure, charge," probably a frequentative form of tangere "to touch" (see tangent). Sense of "burden, put a strain on" first recorded 1670s; that of "censure, reprove" is from 1560s. Use in Luke ii for Gk. apographein "to enter on a list, enroll" is due to Tyndale. The noun is recorded from early 14c. Tax shelter is attested from 1961; taxpayer from 1816.
Another interesting fact: Takshashila, where Arya Chanakya researched Nitishastra and Arthashastra during 350-283BCE got mispronounced by Greeks as Taxila. And the later name become famous world-over.
Could that be the origin of the word tax? (This idea came from Taxiles / Taxila, lets just call it tax!)
Finally quoting Arya Chanakya, "A kingdom should collect the tax in a way that a honey bee does for nectar... Without destroying the flower."
No hopes from the governments to follow that approach!

For the celebrations I handed out sweets in my company. Adding the mail itself, rather than typing it again.
Please, join me in celebrating the 20 years of a great free spirit, Linux. Yeah, I know, GNU and other free software movements were already there. But, because of Linux we could make some real use of it. It is the reason why GNU is now a house hold.
Anyways, lets refuse to play a role of observer in this universe and be an actor. I understand that this is too much of an altruistic attitude. But, lets just do our bit for the humanity by acting for any cause that interests us and leave the world better than it was.

It was long back when I worked as HW service engineer. My first job, first client and the first machine I assembled for him. Next day, the client ringed in. “Hey, my floppy drive does not work!” I was scared to death, have I done something wrong? I went up to the client, just to find out that he was trying to teach the CDROM, “How, to read Floppy drives!” I showed him where does it actually goes, and fortunately the floppy worked finely. Next day, the client ringed in. “Hey, my CDROM does not work!” I answered, “You broke it yesterday, Sir!” Next day, the client ringed in. I left the job.

]]>Developing SVN administration Web GUI

Since last few days I am working on development of a SVN administration web application. I just did not post about it; as soon as I started the work. Because, I thought, I may not be able to complete it.
But, after reaching some milestones I became sure that I will be able to deliver following targeted features:
1) MySQL and LDAP authentication 2) Repository creation 3) Repository access control 4) Profile / Group based access control for the administration tool itself. 5) Ability to give access to users / groups to certain hooks too. 6) Hook / Plug-in based approach to connect to other tools. 7) The differentiators : "The tool will be connected to the best tools / applications available"
What I mean to say by the seventh feature is: i) Won't reinvent the wheel ii) Won't try to push everything in this tool (eg: bug tracking, repo browser etc.) iii) Will try to develop connectors to other great tools in respective fields. A few in mind, right now are: (BugZilla, WebSVN, mpysvnstats, testlink etc)
And in bonus, this tool will be released in with General Public License or LGPL.

I was in sheer amazement to view Pranav Mistri's Demonstration on sixth sense tehcnology.
To be precise, its exactly a "technology" ie.: Science's application in real life.
Please, take some time to view his demonstration if you cant see embedded above: "Here"
He has said that would be "Open Sourced" which may make it accessible to all in near future. Let's hope, we don't have to wait very long for the future from "Minority Reports", "Pay Check", "Mission Impossible" and "Bond movies"... in real life.
As he says, "Digital world and real world should be interconnected." and as we can see, he is successful in doing that.
